Festive Fun: TWOP’s Favourite Christmas Tipples

by Dec 19, 2017

Tis the season for a cocktail, fa la la la la, la la la la. Here we give your our carefully crafted list of top tipples for festive celebrations.

A few years ago I wrote a post with inspiration for some deliciously festive cocktails. This year I am expanding on that post with further top tipple recipes to keep you and your guests suitably refreshed this Christmas. You. Are. Welcome.

Before you start:
– Get your nice glasses ready, all shapes and sizes… we don’t judge here
– Most of these recipes require ice to serve or shake with
– Some of these recipes require a shaker (but not all) so try to have one to hand
– These recipes can be used as a base so if there’s anything you don’t like you can substitute for something similar

Gingerbread Ramos Gin Fizz

Ingredients (serves one):
50 ml Old Tom Gin, or other gin if you can not find an Old Tom style
20 ml gingerbread syrup
1 egg white
12.5 ml lemon juice
12.5 ml orange juice
12.5 ml heavy cream
25 ml oz-50 ml soda water, chilled
Garnish: Mini gingerbread man, dash of cinnamon

Method:
1. Add the gin, gingerbread syrup, lemon, egg white and orange into a shaker without ice and shake for 3-4 minutes.
3. Check at 3 minutes and if you feel you need more foam, shake for another minute. You’ll want to shake hard to get the egg white whipped, you’ll need all the foam you can get.
4. Once you have done this add in the cream and 2 regular ice cubes and shake until you don’t hear any rattling which means the ice has melted.
5. Without straining, pour the cocktail into a collins glass.
6. Slowly pour in the soda water until the foam begins to rise above the glass. You’ll want to make sure the glass isn’t too big otherwise you’ll be pouring in too much soda water which will dilute the flavors.
7. Top with a dash of cinnamon and a gingerbread man.

Pimp Your Prosecco

For a simple and easy fix to up your prosecco game have a few little mixers and garnishes to pimp your bubbles. Try pomegranate, blackberries, raspberry or peach puree or create a Kir Royale splashing a dash of Chambord into your prosecco. I particularly love this NYE bar cart setup from Leah at Freutcake.
