Burn Fat While You Sleep //
Vanessa talks through the key foods you need to incorporate into your diet to ensure you’re maximising your fat burning potential
No, I haven’t gone crazy – you can actually burn fat as you sleep. There are certain foods which will help boost your metabolism thus burn fat… even as you sleep!
Try incorporating these foods in your diet to help maximise your workout efforts:
Green tea has been shown to increase metabolism and fat oxidation, due to its thermogenic properties, according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. It also contains less caffeine than a coffee, fewer calories and is loaded with flavonoids and antioxidants.
Now, I understand a lot of people are lactose intolerant. For those of you who are not, casein protein, found in most dairy products, has been proven to aid fat loss while you sleep. This is because it typically takes around 6 to 8 hours for your body to fully digest, potentially aiding the resting metabolic rate. One of the best ways you can add some casein to your diet is through cottage cheese or milk.
Due to the complex carbohydrates and fibre found in whole grains, increasing your intake can improve your metabolic functions. Try to eat more whole wheat, oats, brown rice, quinoa, or spelt.
Peppers and Chilli
Eating more peppers, or even just adding black pepper to your meal, can boost your metabolism. Try cracking some fresh pepper onto your salad, or adding some chilli to your eggs for a spicy addition!
Citrus fruits contain fat-burning nutrients fibre and vitamin C. Vitamin C plays a role in your body’s fat processing capability. It speeds the process up by diluting the fat and then eliminating it from your body. Eat a variety of fibre and vitamin C-rich citrus fruits to increase your metabolism and burn fat. Citrus fruits include grapefruit, guava, lemons, limes, oranges, tangerines, papaya and tomatoes. Drinking juices made from these fruits can also help burn fat.
