It's Time To Get Excited About 2018 Wedding Trends

by Nov 30, 2017

Getting married next year? Need a helping hand? Here TWOP talks to acclaimed planner Lindsey Hunter on her predictions for 2018 wedding trends.

It’s that time of year again when the wedding industry shouts about their trend predictions for the coming year. This year, we have seen lots of greenery and dark colours, especially coming into the autumn/winter months, but what does next year have in store?

Wedding stylist, Lindsey Hunter and the team at Get Knotted have styled and planned 160 weddings during 2017 to date, so together with her expert knowledge of the industry and her keen eye for trends, it seems 2018 is going to be an exciting year to be getting married. Here are Lindsey’s top 2018 trend predictions:

Greenery

Greenery was a huge trend during 2017 and we will see the ‘greenery’ explosion continue into 2018. From including greenery in details such as your colour scheme and flowers to huge enchanted forest themed weddings, it is such a versatile trend that can be applied to all aspects of your special day.

Oversizing

We are going to see oversized ‘blossom’ trees feature heavily next season. There are some fantastic artificial options available to hire, which will make extravagant and oversized displays accessible to many couples instead of real flowers/foliage, which can be costly.

Floral displays

We will see lots of glass dome decorations with floral displays inside. These work particularly well as table centrepieces teamed with some additional foliage and candles. Stand them on top of rustic log slices for a classic look.

Alternative table styling

Couples are continuously looking for alternative ways to style their tables and as a result, fruits and vegetables will be featuring more within table displays. Fruit and vegetables look fantastic when combined with some simple flowers, candles or elegant fairy lights and lots of glassware.

Unusual colour combinations

2017 has touched on the use of colour, and in 2018 we are expecting to see more unusual colour combinations creeping in. We are hoping to see a lot more colour in general, especially in neutral or pale venues and marquees.

Colourful tablecloths

The perfect way to feature colour in your styling is to use coloured linen tablecloths and napkins. These can be styled together with colourful table decorations or with more neutral details to really make the colours pop – whatever your style, colour is great for expressing your personality.

Not so white dresses

When it comes to colour, we will also be seeing some wedding dresses with more colour – a break away from the traditional white dress!

Whatever your style, there will be plenty of inspiration to help you plan your special day. For more information about how Lindsey can make your wedding day unforgettable or for more inspiration, visit get-knotted.net.
