You don’t have to be a mixologist to host a great drinks party. With a few ingredients, some inspiration and simple recipes you can transform a standard drinks offering into a cocktail masterclass. Here we give you a few of our favourite’s to help you on your way to boozy brilliance.
Before you start:
– Get your nice glasses ready, all shapes and sizes… we don’t judge here
– Most of these recipes require ice to serve or shake with
– Some of these recipes require a shaker (but not all) so try to have one to hand
– These recipes can be used as a base so if there’s anything you don’t like you can substitute for something similar
Apple, Ginger and Cranberry Vodka Cocktail
Ingredients (for 8 people):
500 ml apple juice (use the cloudy type if you can)
500 ml cranberry juice
100 ml vodka
500 ml Ginger ale
Method:
1. Place the apple juice, cranberry juice and vodka in a blender and whizz until pale pink and frothy
2. Pour blended liquid into a large serving jug, add the ginger ale and a good handful of ice and serve

Peppermint White Christmas Champagne Cocktail
Ingredients:
1 bottle of chilled Champagne
White Creme de Cocoa
Candy canes
Method:
1. In a sandwich bag, crush a candy cane with a rolling-pin (or something similar) until you have flake like powder. Dip the rims of your champagne flutes in a small dish of White Creme de Cocoa and then into the crushed candy cane powder
2. Fill champagne glasses ⅓ full with White Creme de Cocoa and then the rest of the way with chilled Champagne
3. Garnish with a whole candy cane to add colour and flavour to the cocktail
4. Enjoy whilst wearing reindeer ears or a Christmas jumper (compulsory)

Cranberry Meyer Lemon Ramos Gin Fizz
Ingredients:
50ml dry gin
25ml double cream
100 – 150ml cranberry syrup
25ml lemon juice
1 egg white
A few drops orange blossom water
25ml soda water
Cranberries to garnish
Method:
1. Add all ingredients except for soda water (unless you want a big mess) into a cocktail shaker without ice and dry shake for 30 seconds
2. Add ice and shake, shake and shake some more… after about 5 minutes strain into a glass
3. Top with soda water and garnish with sugar cranberries

Golden Ladder
Ingredients:
50ml Bourbon
2 muddled figs
25ml lemon juice
12ml honey
1 egg white
Dash of bitters (if you have some)
Gold dust or powder (this isn’t necessary, but adds to the effect)
Method:
1. Muddle figs in the shaker
2. In a pan add honey and the same amount of water to make a syrup and once melted and thinned out add to figs
3. Add the remaining ingredients and then dry shake
4. Stick some ice in the shaker and shake for around a minute
5. Strain into glass and top with gold dust or powder

Frozen Raspberry Pomegranate Cocktail with Fresh Lime and Vodka
Ingredients:
25ml vodka
1 cup frozen raspberries
Juice 1 lime
15ml sugar syrup (see recipe below)
2 tablespoons fresh pomegranate juice
Extra raspberries for garnish
Lime or lemon zest to garnish
Method:
To make the sugar syrup:
1. Add 1 cup of water and ½ a cup of sugar into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stir often then reduce heat and simmer until all the sugar has dissolved into the water for approx. 10 – 12 minutes
2. Allow to cool thoroughly (note this will make enough for a few cocktails)
To make the cocktail:
1. Place vodka, frozen raspberries, lime juice, sugar syrup and pomegranate juice into a chilled cocktail shaker along with a handful roughly crushed ice
2. To serve pour strained cocktail into a glass and garnish with a few extra raspberries and some lime or lemon zest

Salted Caramel White Russian
Ingredients:
25ml oz vodka
25ml Kahlua
50ml cream
1 tablespoon caramel
Coarse ground sea salt (to garnish)
Method:
1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, vodka, Kahlua, cream and ½ of the caramel and shake well
2. Swirl the remaining caramel around the inside and rim of mason jar or cocktail glass
3. Fill with ice and pour cocktail mixture over top
4. Garnish with sea salt

Apple, Brandy Allspice Fizz Cocktail
Ingredients:
50ml brandy
50ml apple juice
25ml lemon juice
25ml spice syrup
1 egg white
50ml soda
Star anise and apple to garnish
Method:
To make the star anise syrup:
1. Add sugar and water into a pot and stir
2. Add star anise and bring to a boil over high heat
3. Turn to a low heat and it let simmer for 5-10 mins and let the star anise steep until the syrup is cool
4. Strain out the solids and add to an airtight jar and place in the fridge (this can be kept for up to a month)
To make the cocktail:
1. Add all ingredients, except for soda, into shaker without ice
2. Dry shake (shaken without ice) for 30 seconds
3. Add ice to the shaker and shake for about a minute to get the egg whites nice and creamy
4. Pour into a large glass with ice
5. Top with club soda and stir a bit
6. Finish with star anise and apple garnish

Iced Coffee Rum Kicker
Ingredients:
50ml dark rum
25ml sugar syrup
50ml coconut water
85ml cold strong coffee
Almond milk
Cinnamon
Method:
To make the sugar syrup:
1. Add 1 cup of water and ½ a cup of sugar into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stir often then reduce heat and simmer until all the sugar has dissolved into the water for approx. 10 – 12 minutes
2. Allow to cool thoroughly (note this will make enough for a few cocktails)
To make the cocktail:
1. In a tall glass with ice, add rum, sugar syrup, coconut water and coffee
2. Stir to combine
3. Top with as much almond milk as desired
4. Sprinkle with cinnamon

Rosemary Greyhound Cocktail
Ingredients:
6 sprigs of rosemary
50ml vodka
25ml rosemary simple syrup
100ml grapefruit juice
Sprig of rosemary for garnish
Method:
To make the rosemary syrup:
1. In a small sauce pan over medium low heat, dissolve a cup of sugar into 2 cups of water for about 5 minutes… don’t let the mixture boil or crystals will form
2. In a heat safe container, pour the warm sugar water mixture over the rosemary sprigs and let it steep for at least 1 hour (rosemary syrup will keep in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 10 days)
To make the cocktail:
1. In a tall glass filled with ice, combine the vodka with the rosemary syrup and grapefruit juice
2. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary

Gin & Jam
Ingredients:
50ml gin
25ml lemon juice
12ml sugar syrup
1 teaspoon raspberry jam
Spoonful of jam for garnish
Method:
To make the sugar syrup:
1. Add 1 cup of water and ½ a cup of sugar into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stir often then reduce heat and simmer until all the sugar has dissolved into the water for approx. 10 – 12 minutes
2. Allow to cool thoroughly (note this will make enough for a few cocktails)
To make the cocktail:
1. Crush ice using a sandwich bag and rolling pin or food processor
2. Add the gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup, and jam to your mixing glass
3. Add ice and shake for 10 seconds
4. Strain into a small glass over crushed ice
5. Top with a spoonful of jam, and stir it in while you sip

Cocktail snow cones
Strawberry Pisco
Ingredients:
1 cup halved strawberries
45ml oz lime juice
15ml sugar syrup
85ml pisco
Strawberry slices for garnish
1 teaspoon raspberry jam
Method:
To make the sugar syrup:
1. Add 1 cup of water and ½ a cup of sugar into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stir often then reduce heat and simmer until all the sugar has dissolved into the water for approx. 10 – 12 minutes
2. Allow to cool thoroughly (note this will make enough for a few cocktails)
To make the cocktail:
1. Once the syrup has cooled, add to the halved strawberries
2. Mash the berries to a pulp, then strain through a fine mesh strainer
3. Add the lime juice and the pisco, and set in the refrigerator to chill
4. Once chilled, drizzle over a cone packed full of crushed ice
5. Garnish with a few strawberry slices and serve with a straw
Bramble
Ingredients:
1 cup blackberries
45ml lemon juice
12ml sugar syrup
85ml gin
Blackberries for garnish
Method:
To make the sugar syrup:
1. Add 1 cup of water and ½ a cup of sugar into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stir often then reduce heat and simmer until all the sugar has dissolved into the water for approx. 10 – 12 minutes
2. Allow to cool thoroughly (note this will make enough for a few cocktails)
To make the cocktail:
1. Once the syrup has cooled, add to the blackberries
2. Mash the berries to a pulp, then strain through a fine mesh strainer
3. Add the lemon juice and the gin, and set in the refrigerator to chill
4. Once chilled, drizzle over a cone packed full of crushed ice
5. Garnish with a few blackberries and serve with a straw
