Move Your Frame: Leg Warmers & Lycra Ready For 80’s Aerobics

by Oct 11, 2017

Leg warmers and lycra at the ready as we cover the 80’s aerobics class from Frame. Move Your Frame: 80’s Aerobics

Tuesday night arrives and it’s time for another Frame class. This time Nat takes on the aerobics session with a difference. If you don’t know much about Frame check out Nat’s previous post here. In short every session is fun, hard work and designed to plough through calories.

80’s Aerobics – A Dance Aerobics class to the sounds of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran. Leotards and leg warmers encouraged! The perfect class for those new to fitness or for those who just want to have a bloody good time. Using moves made famous by the likes of Jane Fonda this class will give you toned arms, sculpted abs and a pert butt and allows you to let loose, forgetting about the stresses of the busy week.

As it was Vanessa’s birthday she didn’t want to workout (eesssh!), so I toddled down to Frame on my own to take part in this class. I had learnt from standing at the back of the Dance Cardio class that if you are a newbie you really shouldn’t stand at the back. So entering studio 4 I moved to the front to ensure I made the most of the session and picked up the moves. As the room filled up our instructor for the lesson bounced in. The class was taken by Naomi Corinne, who explained she normally took the pilates sessions, but was covering for another instructor.

As the 80’s tunage began we started with some high energy exercises, such as star jumps and running on the spot to warm up – and boy did we warm up! As the room heated the routine got faster until we were practically panting. 20 minutes of energetic movements got all us ladies raring to go. Don’t be fooled by the fun title of the workout, it’s not easy peasy!

After the warm up we continued onto a slower more controlled routine which was a mix between dance, boxing and aerobics itself. We used light equipment such as weights and floor mats to ensure a full body workout.

I have to say this has been one of my favourite classes to date and Naomi was a brilliant instructor. She made sure she explained each step while moving around the room to ensure we all understood the move – I found it really easy to follow. Not only was the class was full of nostalgia, it had fun energetic music that took me back to my childhood when I went to aerobics classes with my mum aged 5 (no lie… I’ll dig out the pics)!

Just one tip – don’t go the day after a Beyonce Barre workshop… ouch!

I left feeling positive and while the session pushed my energy I didn’t feel drained. To top it off my Fitbit told me I burned 480 calories. Not bad!! Highly recommend this class… I’ll be back (didn’t someone else say that?)
