Last week NJ and I trotted down to Spitalfields market to see some of the amazing work produced by hundreds of inspiring ‘young people’ (for want of a better phrase) who, it turns out, are far more talented than us.
The exhibition was hosted by D&AD to celebrate the incredible new blood coming into the industry, and was filled to the brim with animation and photography and design and some of the best bloody business cards we’ve ever seen.
Students from tens of universities across the country participated, and the event represented a culmination of their final year work. A diversity of talent was on show: from mock ad concepts demonstrating not just creativity but strategic rigour, to real artistic craft (the type you would happily commission. I want the bear. Give me the bear… yes that one below).
D&AD, and the plethora of sponsors supporting New Blood, are helping hundreds of aspiring creatives get their Nike Air-clad feet in the industry door – and it was nice to see an even split of XXs and XYs. Hopefully that will continue as these guys make their inevitable rise to the top.
