Nat gives a little look into the details of her wedding day, revealing some of the personal touches that made the big day special.
According to the British dictionary the word ‘wedding’ means:
“a marriage ceremony, especially considered as including the associated celebrations.”
But in fact it’s so much more.
On 18th August my husband and I (still makes me giggle to say it out loud) brought together months of hard work, wedmin and preparation to what can only be described as an epic party to celebrate our marriage. The day was perfect and it was everything we had hoped for and more.
It’s hard to describe the feeling you have on your wedding day. We have been to many weddings over the years, but nothing quite prepares you for the overwhelming warm and fuzzy sensation you have at your own wedding. Knowing that everyone you love and care about have united to share your special moment is beyond my ability to describe in words. The immense high of watching our creation come to life, all our ideas and all the personal touches flourish, combined with a joyous atmosphere and smiling faces of friends and family truly is the most sensational love in the world.
Not only did we aim to create a feast for the eyes, but we also wanted to ensure the whole wedding was personal in every aspect possible. From having our nephew read a Chinese poem and my auntie create an ode, to our dear friend read out our promises and vows (because we both would have been a blubbering mess) and a reading of a special poem… and this was just the ceremony! Speeches included my brother, dad, Tom, uni friends and Tom’s best man. All speeches heartfelt yet hilarious in their own right. And to top it all off our first dance was to Fleetwood Mac’s, You Make Loving Fun, followed by a Michael Jackson half hour (as he’s Tom’s favourite). Fun and creative food by Kalm Kitchen and a epic photo booth (pics here) all helped to create the best day of our lives.
And it’s not just the day itself, it’s the whole journey, which to me was exciting from start to finish. Over a year and a half, together with our families, Tom and I created a day that reflected us as a couple in every way we could find possible. What’s more as I watched my Paper Studio grow I worked alongside some of the new friends I had created to bring our vision to life. And with that being said, here’s a quick snapshot of our wedding, including some of the incredible suppliers who we are eternally grateful to for helping us create the perfect day.
Stay tuned for further posts that detail the suppliers in full, but for now I will leave you with a few preview pictures from our talents photographer Sara Lincoln.
