In a city already teeming with American style diners, Jackson + Rye turns up in the heart of Soho and shouts “FORGET THEM, I’M HERE NOW!”.
With Richard Caring’s millions behind it, and the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio to get all the details right – Jackson + Rye has managed to successfully transport us to the heart of Brooklyn.
It’s loud and lively, dark and moody: a café/cocktail bar come restaurant which caters for all.
When TWOP paid a visit, our (often lofty) expectations were exceeded. NJ got warmed up with the truffle mac and cheese followed by the world’s biggest hot dog. I’m not exaggerating, I swear. It was huge. I started with tuna tartar and then went for it with fillet steak and chips. In true NYC style, we didn’t stop there: NJ had baked cheesecake and I went for the peanut butter cookies with ice-cream.
The food is insanely good, atmosphere great, service top-notch – we strongly recommend this joint! I don’t think it’s mandatory to book (hurrah, you can actually book!!!) but we went on a Monday night and the place was packed out so it’s probably best if you do.
