Bringing you our selection of the biggest and baddest adland breaking news from the last 7 days.
…to make up for having to do a 5 day week
The week at a glance:
AdLand has been busy. Gap joined Fight Club, McDonalds clean up, W&K go underwater, IKEA parody Apple and M&S launch ‘funky’ new ads (says JB’s Dad).
Gap learn the rules of Fight Club
In the states, as part of their campaign ‘Dress normal’, Gap have hired Fight Club director David Fincher to create four new ad spots for them. The films challenge what ‘normal’ means – targeting their audience’s sense of authenticity and individuality. Apparently. Watch ‘Stairs’ here.
McDonalds go green and clean
In Sweden, Maccy D’s are encouraging festival goers to clean up their litter by accepting cash, cards and cans at nearby outlets. Ten cans gets you a burger – that’s a fair exchange in our opinion.
W&K and Samsung go diving
Samsung have a new waterproof mobile out. How better to show off its skills than to create a series of apps that react to being submerged? That’s exactly what W&K did – presenting Goldie (who gasps for air out of water) and Rainy-oke (karaoke in the rain). Bonkers but we love it. Watch the ad here.
IKEA do an Apple
Over in Singapore, BBH decided that the best way to announce the new IKEA catalogue was to do a spoof of Apple’s product launches. Introduced by a bald headed head designer (Sir Jon?) the catalogue mimics the Apple demonstration technique as it rotates stylishly in the air. #megalolz. Have a look here.
M&S funk it up
M&S have landed back on our screens with two pretty awesome new ads: one for fashion and one for food. They’re fast paced, loud, and we love them. So does JB’s dad. Or maybe that’s the ladies in stockings? You decide, have a sneak peak of the ad here.
Go and enjoy the sun.
